On the TV show “LOST” time is a key element. People who watch “LOST” know the season premier is going to show us whether or not the castaways were able to change their course in time. It's a big deal! But is the State of the Union a big deal too? That topic seems to have loads of people up in arms around the web, including myself (my arms are up, you just can't tell).
You see there's a real possibility that President Obama will appear on our television screens on the night of February 2nd to deliver his annual State of the Union address. And that is the very same night “LOST” returns for its 6th and very final season! As a “LOST” fan I can tell you that learning of this possibility struck a fear in me so deep I felt like I had to do something. And sitting here with my arms in the air wasn't really satisfying that need.
I don't have a lot of pull in the ABC land of big-wigs and decision makers so I unfortunately can't go there. However I did join the Facebook group "Americans Against the State of the Union on the Same Night as 'LOST.'" This is one of the suggestions I read on msnbc's website. There are apparently a lot of other “LOST” fans taking to their Twitter accounts and various social sites stating their disgust at such a travesty. I just hope it works. Obama can you hear me?
What will happen if the State of the Union runs over “LOST?” That's the big question. I hope ABC moves the show, earlier. Hell, air the damn thing at noon; I'd make sure I was home to watch it!!! But at the very least they always post the new episodes on their website a few hours after the show airs. But would millions of people logging on to watch that episode implode the Internet? I think it could. And that would most definitely cause a huge riff in the space/time continuum if that happened. I just hope it would reach out and Bitch Slap the President for making such poor scheduling choices.
For more information you can read the article I read on msnbc here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34754039/ns/entertainment-television/
And let’s all hope and pray that Obama doesn't choose to go toe to toe with “LOST” fans for the time slot on the night of February the 2nd. It might not be pretty.
