Finally, after all these years of being snubbed the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame lets ABBA in. What? Why do they even call it the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame? Over half of the performers in there are from another musical genre. First rock n roll starts to be dismissed by the Grammy’s and other awards shows, now they’re being dismissed by its own hall of fame.
Why isn’t KISS in? Is it based on popularity? KISS has more gold records than any American band. So it can’t be popularity. Are they not technical enough of musicians? Rush, Yes and King Crimson aren’t in, but Michael Jackson, U2 and Madonna are, so it can’t be that. I don’t have an answer. When it comes to American rock bands, who is more popular than KISS? Aerosmith, Metallica? Maybe?
I went through the list of acts that are in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and decided it just needs to change its name to the Popular Music Hall of Fame. With sports, they don’t let football players into Cooperstown. Michael Jordan doesn’t have a bust in Canton at the Football Hall of Fame. If they were going to do that they’d just call it the Sports Hall of Fame.
Unlike the hall of fame of other sporting events, I’m pretty sure that eventually all recording artists will make it in to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They’re still inducting people from the 60’s and 70’s. They’re going to start inducting KISS, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Ozzy Osbourne, Journey, Heart, Deep Purple, Rush, Yes, Cheap Trick etc. etc. over the next 10 to 15 years while we’re all whining about why Soundgarden and Alice in Chains aren’t in.
So to all you KISS fans out there, don’t worry about it. The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is a sham ran by a bunch of people older than the guys in KISS that don’t appreciate when shit explodes. I’m not really sure what they look for. Maybe it’s radio popularity. Maybe they just like it when they can induct a lot of the same type of bands into the hall together, like when Aerosmith and Queen got inducted. So look for Motley Crue and Bon Jovi in 2011? Or maybe Rush, Yes and Jethro Tull, who knows? Who cares? It’s a sham.

KISS isnt in because most people in the industry can't stand the arrogant, obnoxious and annoying Gene Simmons. This is one thing he can't force his way into (and he's been trying for a long time). It just ain't gonna happen anytime soon. I feel for Paul Stanley Ace Frehley and
They deserve to be in.Whats more rock and roll then rockin and rollin all night and partying every day. People who don't like KISS haven't been to one of their concerts. Paul is awesome. Gene spits fire. What other bass players are as cool as Gene? Ace and Peter were also good, but they deserve it more than Abba, Madonna, The Stooges, or any other disco act thats in that dump.
You might wish to actually use a photo of ABBA instead of a bizarre looking cover band. ABBA rocks!
At this point why would any credible rock band want to be in this stupid Rock and Roll Hall of Lame. Rush, KISS, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper and others are to good for this out of touch with Hard Rock and Heavy Metal dump!
I agree completely with everything you said here. Jann Wenner's Hall is a sham and it's inducting a lot more than just rock n roll acts. To paraphrase Angus Young, "They call it the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, then you see James Taylor sitting out of there. It's kind of abusive."
Yeh well the Who, Beatles, Led Zepplin, Doors just don't compare to the others eh....kiss had a few good songs but Ace could be inducted seperate from kiss, but Gene simmons is arrogant, who if anyone other than himself are his influences in music anyway.
I agree with a few of the comments made here. Given the types of bands and artists already inducted, "Rock and Rock Hall of Fame" is no longer a proper name for the association. Bon Jovi definitely needs to be inducted. They are a great rock group with a massive fan base and keep on delivering great tunes.
